This has been a great 8 days. Last Saturday in Jackson our volleyball team participated in the Millsaps Invitational. Two years ago we went 0–4 in the tournament. This year? 4–0. Over the past 8 days the team went 5–2 which included our first conference win at Talladega. Starting the year 8–3 is awesome!

On Wednesday we held the largest Brain Food event since we started in April of 2013. Lawless seats 800. We had another 50–70 standing, plus another 150 plus trying to sneak in, peep through windows, whatever they could to hear Issa Rae from the HBU series Insecure. She was awesome and everyone loved her visit. Oh yeah- her grandma is a graduate of Dillard!

Last week, in class we started discussing a Dee-1 video. I texted him since the class wanted to meet him. He was in New York but said he would be back in town this week, and just like that, he was at class on Thursday. AWESOME discussion about what we listen to and how it impacts us. We even talked about music they play at the Kearny parties.

That night, I went to the Kearny party. Interesting…

On Friday we re-opened our newly renovated Career and Professional Development Center. There has been a lot of work done in the Student Union, and this space was important to restructure. In the past few years we have focused more on making sure our students are prepared to be sprinters, moving directly into their careers deliberately.
