Memorable Moments of 2022: #5 Me and the Media
--
2022 was crazy in that although I was president of Dillard for half of the year, I did more major media this year than any other that I can recall. For me it is imperative that HBCUs control our narrative, and that means we have to speak with the media. There still exists a lot of mistrust (and there are valid reasons for that mistrust), but we have to use the tools available to tell our stories (a phrase I really hate because we say we need to do it and then don’t do it).
We can do this via op-eds, interviews, and even strategic social media posts. But we have a story to tell as Biggie Smalls would say, and I will continue to do my part.
Print/Digital Media Interviews
Electronic Media Interviews
Editorials
TV and Film
I also had one TV interview for the Lifetime Movie “Line Sisters.” The segment “Beyond the Headlines” allowed me to explain hazing.
And I also participated in the PBS documentary “Hazing” by Byron Hurt. It is an excellent film.
