November 18th was a day to remember at Dillard University. We finally named the DUICEF building built in the 1990s for Michael ‘82 and Shaun Jones. Mike is our current board chair and the lead attorney on the Maryland HBCU case that awarded the 4 schools $577M.

Mike’s firm, Kirkland and Ellis, made a $5M donation to our newly created Center for Racial Justice. We started it last year but it has been working overtime creating programs and opportunities for students. Mike is a history maker also in the fact that he is the first Black partner for Kirkland & Ellis.

Finally, we held the 10th Ortique lecture on law and society with Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke. The first Ortique lecture was held in 2010 when the PSB building opened, which includes the Mock Trial Center. At the opening Attorney General Eric Holder was the speaker.
