HBCU STEAM Week

We’ve just had a fabulous week advocating for HBCUs with members of Congress. Led by Rep. Alma Adams (NC) who chairs the bipartisan HBCU caucus, we were able to engage with key committee chairs to discuss issues important to HBCUs.

Since I chair the member presidents of UNCF, and still chair our governmental affairs committee, it was important for me to make as many of these meetings as possible (I made most of them). This is part of my job that I really love- being able to advocate on behalf of all HBCUs in a meaningful way with lawmakers.

It is important work for all of us, not just presidents. HBCU advocates have to regularly engage their members of Congress on behalf of their institutions.

This was a great week. Thanks to all the members of Congress and their staffers for engaging us in this meaningful way.
