Busy Making Black History
February is a short month, but we continue to just pack in all kinds of events and accomplishments. Here is a quick highlight reel:

Both Miss and Mister Dillard made the Ebony Magazine HBCU Campus Court edition. This is the first year they added the kings so this is a coup. It is tough for smaller schools to make the list, and we’re the second smallest of the 10 (Livingstone in NC also got both of theirs in). We’re the only Louisiana HBCU where the King made the list, and one of 2 in Louisiana where the Queen made the list.

Our Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society inducted four new members.

The Dillard Pre-Alumni Council won 4 awards (including advisor of the year) at the recent UNCF National Pre Alumni Council meeting in Atlanta.

We hosted a qualifying tournament for the Honda Campus All-Star competition. We will know soon if the team advanced to the national competition in Los Angeles.

Dillard Theatre is in the middle of its production of Ida B. Wells ‘N The Lynching Tree. Catch it next Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

My man Kevin Powell spent a day on campus. He did sessions with the PODUS ambassadors, lunch with Honors students, here with an English argument and reason class, and ended the night with dinner and discussion with the Men of Dillard group (about 50 of them).

We wrapped up this weekend with the Bleu Devil Classic and a special halftime performance by Choppa! The Bleu Devil Classic is SO much better than the Crosstown Rivalry (they need to step up their game! LOL)
Plus I have given the message at churches the last two weeks, moderated a panel in Indianapolis with parents whose sons were killed due to hazing, and attended the Bi-Partisan HBCU Fly-In in DC.
Dillard continues to be on the move…
