A decade questioning “philanthropy”

For over a decade I have been working to try to bring awareness to the inequities in philanthropy. The rich continue to get richer, just like with everything else. So recently I wrote this piece for the Atlanta Journal Constitution to mark the fact that it has been 30 years since the largest single gift to an HBCU, $20 million, was given.

Just recently we’ve seen $25 million gifts to Boston University and Marshall University, and $200 million to Harvard Medical School (that one gift larger than the endowments of all but about 4 HBCUs). I gift.
